Adding Products to Categories Manually

Now that you have created your product categories, you will probably like to add products. Adding products to categories will help organize the products on your commerce site and make them easier for customers to find.

A reminder as to how Category Structure works

Parent Categories - any product category that has another category assigned as a child in the category structure. A category can be both a parent and a child to another category. For example, a parent category may contain products but does not have to contain products.
Child Categories - any product category that is connected to a parent category. They may also include Child Categories or products.

Navigate to "Products" under the PIM section in the Portal
Select the "Category Assignment" tab

Select the fields you want to see by clicking on the "Show / Hide Columns" icon. If you reference the same columns every time, it may be helpful to save your filter selection for future use.

Depending on your workflow, some helpful columns could be:

Code - helpful if the Code is used for reference or searching.
Name - can be helpful when categorizing the product.
Created - helpful if you would like to sort by created date to find newly added products
Category Columns - if your product belongs in more than one category, you can assign products to additional categories using the available category columns. Select as many category columns as you will need for your products.
PIM Status - if you are using the Kodaris PIM system to track the status of your products, it can be helpful to have column selected, especially if you would like to filter on "COMPLETE" products that are ready to be categorized.
PIM Category Status - if you are using the Kodaris PIM system to track the status of categories, it can be helpful to have this column selected, especially if you would like to filter on products that are ready for categories to be updated, QA's, or complete.

Please note the option to use Primary Category Code; this field should only be used for new products and "do_not_display" category if they are being used as part of the PIM Workflow.

Finding Products to Assign to Categories

Products can be sorted on the Created date to find products that have been recently assed from your ERP.

It can also be helpful to filter on keywords in the Name column (i.e exterior) to find specific products that should be added to categories; you can also filter by product in the Code column.
The search bat can be used, although this will pull results from all product fields.

The screenshot above shows that products have been filtered on the PIM Category Status of "UPDATE". You can also see that the products have a PIM Status of "COMPLETE". If your products have been set up to use the PIM system in this way, these products are ready to be assigned to categories.

Assigning Products to Categories

Start typing the name of the desired category into the Category 1 field - this field will allow you to search as you type category codes already in the system.
Select the category code from the list, or finish typing the category code into the field.
Any fields or dropdown that can be updated are autosaved once you click out of the field.

If the product belongs in more than one category, repeat the process using the additional category columns and enter additional category codes.

If you have several products that need to be added to the same category, you can also copy/paste the category code to several products at once.

Navigate to "Categories" under the PIM section in the Portal
Select the "Data" tab

Select the "Product" tab to view, then click the Details tab (not shown in this screenshot)

In the lower-left corner, there is a field where you can assign products by product code or by a search term
