How It Works

AI PIM processes your products in two steps, each of which uses APUs:

Step 1: Resource Extraction

AI PIM reads your uploaded files and URLs, using AI to extract key product information from each one. Every file and URL is processed individually — a product with 5 files will result in 5 separate extraction operations.

Step 2: PIM Generation

Once all resources have been extracted, AI PIM combines the extracted data with your existing product information and generates structured product recommendations. This is a single operation per product, regardless of how many files were extracted.

Tips for Managing Costs

  • Use smaller, focused files — A 2-page product spec sheet uses far fewer APUs than a 50-page catalog. Split large documents into per-product files when possible.
  • Keep URL lists focused — Each URL in a urls.txt file is processed separately. Stick to the 2–3 most relevant URLs per product.
  • Review before generating — Run Resource Extraction first to review the extracted data, then trigger PIM Generation once you're satisfied with the results.
  • Disable automation during bulk imports — If you're importing files for many products at once, consider disabling automated processing jobs first, then process manually or re-enable after review.
