Imagine you have a product with a 3-page spec sheet PDF, a 1-page catalog PDF, and a manufacturer URL. Here's how AI PIM processes it and what the billing looks like:
| Step | Resource | Est. APU |
|---|---|---|
| Extract | Spec sheet PDF (3 pages) | 8 |
| Extract | Catalog PDF (1 page) | 3 |
| Extract | Manufacturer URL | 5 |
| Generate | PIM Recommendations | 10 |
| Total | 26 APU |
At $0.05 per APU, this product would cost approximately $1.30 to process.
Note: Actual APU usage varies based on file size, content density, and the complexity of the generated output.
AI PIM processes your products in two steps, each of which uses APUs:
AI PIM reads your uploaded files and URLs, using AI to extract key product information from each one. Every file and URL is processed individually — a product with 5 files will result in 5 separate extraction operations.
Once all resources have been extracted, AI PIM combines the extracted data with your existing product information and generates structured product recommendations. This is a single operation per product, regardless of how many files were extracted.
APU usage depends on the size and complexity of each resource. Below are approximate ranges for typical usage:
| Resource Type | Estimated APU |
|---|---|
| Small PDF (1–2 pages) | 2 – 5 |
| Medium PDF (3–5 pages) | 5 – 15 |
| Large PDF (10+ pages) | 15 – 50 |
| Product Image | 2 – 3 |
| URL Scrape | 2 – 10 |
| PIM Generation (Step 2) | 5 – 15 |
Here are estimated costs for processing products in bulk, assuming an average of 2–3 files per product:
| Scenario | Est. APU | Est. Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Single product (2 PDFs + 1 URL) | 26 | $1.30 |
| Small batch (10 products, 2 files each) | 200 | $10.00 |
| Medium batch (50 products, 3 files each) | 1,250 | $62.50 |
| Large batch (100 products, 3 files each) | 2,500 | $125.00 |
